England Top Batsman Betting

England have a number of key players who can play well and score vital runs in the top and middle orders during the Test series against Sri Lanka. These key individuals will have a great chance of ending the series as the leading English run scorer.

The current favourite is Jonathan Trott at 7/2 in most places in the market. The reason Trott is the favourite is because he has been the most consistent player since he came into the side. He may not be the best player to watch bat but he finds ways of scoring runs when it looks like he could be struggling. Trott can make big hundreds at any time and in any conditions.

Alastair Cook leads the players currently on 4/1 all over the betting market. Cook was the best English batsmen during the recent Ashes series in Australia. He has shown that once he gets in, he is difficult to dismiss and he will grind out as many runs as he possibly can before he ultimately gets a great ball or makes a mistake that costs him his wicket.

Andrew Strauss is also one of the players on 4/1 to end the series with the most runs for England. Strauss recently scored 150 against India in an ODI match which showed that his fitness and the mental side of his game are both superb. Kevin Pietersen rounds off the players on 4/1 to score the most runs. Pietersen has not been consistent in an England shirt for a very long time but he retains a good average and is one of the few England players who is genuinely feared by every team that his country come up against. Pietersen will want a hundred in England as soon as is possible and the dry start to the summer could work in his advantage.

Ian Bell is 6/1 to score the most runs for England and possibly the best value out of all the batsmen. Bell has the best technique of all the players in the England side and he often comes in during the middle order when things are going well. His technique also allows him to get through patches when things are not going well which means he is still at the crease to score runs later in his innings.

Eoin Morgan is an 8/1 outsider to carry on the good form he has already shown against the Sri Lankans. Morgan scored the best part of a double hundred against Sri Lanka in a tour match and he will get the nod for the first Test. Morgan is an unorthodox player but he hits his gaps well and times the ball better than anyone else in the side. This means he can tick over his own score even when the Sri Lankans are on the back foot and have set the field defensively.

Djokovic v Mayer Tennis Betting Guide

Novak Djokovic gets his Wimbledon Championship underway on Tuesday afternoon when he locks horns with Florian Mayer in a first round encounter on day two at SW 19.

The Serbian won at Wimbledon in 2011 of course, but might be slightly disappointed by his record here as he has only made the final on one occasion.

He is the bookmaker’s favourite to lift the famous trophy this year and as we know, a good start is key in Grand Slam tennis. Djokovic will try and get this match over and done with as quickly as possible and in truth, if he is anywhere near his best, he will take this one in straight sets.

When looking at the betting for this first round clash, you can see that the man from Serbia is the huge favourite with the bookies and the best value you can get on him winning is 1/41 over at Betfair.

This is Wimbledon though and every player involved is living their dream, so you can never write off a big surprise happening.

With just how competitive and professional Djokovic is though, it is tough to see anyone getting the better of him in these early rounds.

As for Mayer, this is his chance to have his time in the limelight and he will do all he can to upset the odds at Wimbledon on Tuesday.

The German is ranked number 34 on the men’s circuit, so he is clearly a player with talent, but he hasn’t played at SW 19 since 2008 and when he has been in action here, Mayer has never made it past the first round.

It would be one of the biggest shockers we have seen for some time if the 29-year-old were to make it to the second round, but he should believe that it is possible. Mayer would need Djokovic to have an off day, of course. Betting online on the underdog gives you odds of 25/1 over at Bet365.

It might be worth placing some bets on the correct score and you can get a bit more value on Djokovic winning in straight sets as a 3-0 victory is at 5/19 with Sportingbet.

You can then get very long odds of 66/1 with BetVictor that Mayer takes this one 3-2.

A bet on the first set score might be the way to go and we think the world number one will get off to a flyer here. You can back him winning 6-2 in the opener at 9/2 with Paddy Power.

As ever when one of the big players are in action, this will be an interesting watch.

Djokovic v Mayer ATP Montreal Betting Guide

The ATP Montreal tournament takes place this week and Novak Djokovic will be in action for the first time since his defeat to Andy Murray at Wimbledon in July.

Djokovic takes on Florian Mayer in his first encounter and it is a match that the world number one should be winning comfortably. When looking at the latest odds, you can see that the Serbian is a 1/20 shot with Coral to come out on top.

Although this should be an easy match for Djokovic, it will be interesting to see how he plays after such a disappointing performance at SW 19 – where he lost to Andy Murray in straight sets and looked far from at his best.

One thing you would say about the Australian Open Champion is that he has an incredible attitude and a couple of weeks away from the game after Wimbledon might have just done him the world of good.

You would expect him to bounce back and we could see a big performance from Djokovic in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

This is a tournament he will want to be winning as the US Open isn’t too far away and momentum is key when coming into a Grand Slam.

As for Mayer, few can argue he is a talented player, but bets aren’t likely to be too popular on him winning as he is being offered at 14/1 with BetVictor.

Playing Djokovic is never an easy thing to do, especially after he suffered such a disappointing defeat in his most recent match. Some might think that makes it easier to play the Serbian here, but it is tough to make a case for the underdog in this one.

What the German will want to do is start quickly and maybe even take the first set. If he does that, then perhaps he has a chance of coming out on top here.

David Haye v Dereck Chisora Boxing Betting

Saturday 14th July see’s one of the most talked about, controversial and anticipated boxing matches taking place between David Haye and Dereck Chisora. After both boxers came to blows at the press conference after Chisora’s last fight there has been nothing talked about more in the World of boxing than the fight between these two heavyweights.

It is highly unlikely but the draw could happen and just about all the bookies have that down at 33/1, but as we said, highly unlikely.

When it comes to the method of victory there is a little bit more betting value available. The bookmakers favourite outcome in the fight is a David Haye win Knock Out, Technical Knock Out or Disqualification, with Paddy Power and William Hill offering odds of 6/4 which looks quite appealing, especially as Haye was suggesting the plan is to stop him early in the fight. Next in the betting is for Haye to win by either Decision or Technical Decision with a few bookies offering 2/1, including Sky Bet and Betfred.

If you feel that an upset is on the cards then having a look at the Dereck Chisora methods of victory will certainly excite you. Haye to win in rounds 4-6 gets odds of 7/1 with a few bookies including Boylesports and Betfred and 15/2 with Sky Bet for a Haye win in rounds 9-12.

On the Dereck Chisora side of the round group betting there is plenty of betting value available with the bookies offering big odds. Apart from Chisora winning on points the bookies think the most likely time for Chisora to win is in rounds 7-12 with Paddy Power and Sky Bet offering the best betting odds of 10/1, whilst an earlier win in rounds 1-6 gets odds of 11/1 with Sportingbet. Narrowing it down again the odds start to get bigger with 16/1 available on Chisora to win in rounds 1-4 or 9-12 with Ladbrokes. All the other outcomes for Chisora to win range between 18/1 and 33/1 with Ladbrokes and BetVictor consistently offering the best odds.

Darts fans can look forward to 6 days of fantastic Darts competition with the World Grand Prix being played in Dublin from Monday 4th October through till the 10th of the Sunday. With so many 1st round matches you’d probably fall sleep if we went through them all so we’ve just picked a few stand out bets what we think will offer good betting value. Firstly Adrian Lewis has a best price of 3/4 with Sportingbet and we think that is a good price for the talented youngster to beat Alan Tabern and would be our first match bet. Lewis is also known for big scoring so at 4/7 with Blue Square it might be worth betting that Lewis gets more 180′s than Tabern.

A fancied player to win the title would be Gary Anderson but we think the format might not favour him as he can be a bit dodgy hitting doubles so we would select Ronnie Baxter in their first round match. A host of bookies are offering odds of 11/8 on a Baxter win and this is another bet that we think offers a good bit of value.

Another price that we think is a bit big in the match betting is the 4/6 that bookies such as Sky Bet, 888Sport and Victor Chandler are offering on Mervyn King to win his first round match against Wayne Jones.

At 1/19 backing Phil Taylor to beat his first round opponent is not really worth bothering with so why not chuck him in a favourites accumulator? William Hill offer the best odds of around 10/11 on Whitlock, Taylor, Van Barneveld and James Wade all winning their first round matches and we think all darts fans would agree, that should happen!
